Mindful Creating - Exploring Personal Symbols
Saturday March 3, 2018
Norton Simon Museum
Join artist Naomi Buckley for a mindful and introspective art making journey. Using a selection of paintings from the Norton Simon's collection we will explore the images and make meaning of them through the lens of archetypes and symbols. We will look at how archetypes are both universal and personal. After the discussion we will start our creative process with a mindful meditation to ground and center ourselves to come to our creating with an open and playful mind. We will then create a personal symbol collage reflecting ourselves and our experience of the world around us.
Planning the Personal-Mindfulness and Art Making workshop
April 2nd, 2016
ESMoA (El Segundo Museum of Art)
We create goals, we plan for an imagined future, we make multiple plans for different possible futures and dream or worry about the outcomes. In this workshop, we will ground ourselves in the present using mindfulness, explore what we want to draw into our lives currently, and create our own collaged vision of that future.
As an artist I have often experienced the moment when an artwork is in chaos and not working out according to plan at all. I often find that these moments of chaos are what artists push though and use to their advantage often even looking looking forward to those moments happening when creating. In this workshop we will explore how to navigate the unplanned moments in life and explore the potential in these moments.
Collage and Assemblage
This is a hands on art experience. We make artwork,
learn about contemporary collage and assemblage artists and explore our creativity.
Lots of laughter and community building happens also. Hope to see you there!
